The Yate community rallies together to raise funds for The Willow Tree Centre following a personal tragedy faced by local residents
Yate: When life throws you a curveball, sometimes the best response is to show kindness. That’s what Dave and his team at Stevens Hewlett Perkins did after facing a personal tragedy. They turned their heartbreak into a mission to support The Willow Tree Centre.
In 2023, after losing their baby, Dave and Lauren reached out to The Willow Tree Centre for help. They found comfort and support there, which meant the world to them. Dave shared how it provided him a safe space to express his feelings.
Every year, Dave’s workplace picks a local charity to support, and this time he chose The Willow Tree Centre. They rolled up their sleeves and got to work raising funds. Their efforts paid off, bringing in an impressive £2,586.30!
They organized a bake sale where everyone brought in homemade goodies to sell. There was also a food sale featuring dishes from around the world, a Euro 2024 sweepstake, and a fitness challenge that got everyone moving. The winning team’s kilometers were matched in pounds by the firm’s partners.
Helen Adair from The Willow Tree Centre praised the team’s efforts, saying, “What a wonderful achievement by a team of around 40 employees.” She also mentioned that Dave and Lauren welcomed baby Jack into their family since their time at the centre, and it was lovely to meet him.
