The Welsh Rugby Union is considering immediate changes to Warren Gatland’s coaching staff following a disappointing run of form.
Cardiff: So, it looks like the Welsh Rugby Union is shaking things up a bit. They’re thinking about making some changes to Warren Gatland’s coaching team right away. This comes after they decided to keep Gatland on as head coach, despite a rough patch for the team.
They just announced that Nigel Walker, the executive director of rugby, is stepping down. With the Six Nations coming up, Gatland has a big task ahead of him to turn things around for Wales, who have had a tough time lately.
After losing 12 Test matches in a row, the WRU said they seriously considered making big changes. But in the end, they felt sticking with Gatland was the best move. Still, they’re open to bringing in new staff to help him out, and some current team members might be on their way out.
According to a report from CEO Abi Tierney, they’re looking to improve the team’s mindset and culture by adding new people to the coaching setup. Tierney mentioned they’re exploring options based on what the data shows and who’s available.
In other news, Scarlets’ captain Josh Macleod is getting some well-deserved praise after bouncing back from a serious knee injury. He’s been on fire lately, scoring five tries in his last four games and leading his team with some impressive performances.
Meanwhile, Richie Williams has left his role as Cambridge’s director of rugby after six years. He did a great job getting the team promoted but struggled last season. Anthony Allen will be taking over from him.
And don’t miss the Welsh derby this weekend! Gwalia Lightning and Brython Thunder have named their teams for the big match in the Celtic Challenge. It’s going to be an exciting clash with some top players on both sides.
