A 14-year-old boy was tragically killed in Woolwich, just weeks after paying tribute to another stabbing victim in the area
Woolwich: It’s heartbreaking to hear about a 14-year-old boy who was stabbed to death on a bus in South-East London. Just weeks before, he laid flowers for another boy who lost his life to knife violence in the same area.
This young boy was killed on a route 472 bus in Woolwich Church Street. The attack happened around 2:30 PM, and it was described by police as a “horrendous” crime. People have been sharing messages and pictures online, remembering him and expressing their grief.
Mark Rodney from Project Lifeline, an anti-knife crime charity, mentioned that the victim had recently honored another teenager, Daejaun Campbell, who was also stabbed to death nearby just two weeks earlier. Daejaun was only 15 and was fatally injured in Eglinton Road.
Daejaun’s mother, Jodian Taylor, shared how much he meant to her and his family. She said he had the biggest heart and was always there for his brothers and grandma. It’s so sad to think about the loss of such young lives.
On the same day as the recent stabbing, there was another non-fatal stabbing in Woolwich, but thankfully, it’s not linked to this tragic event. Last year, London saw ten teenagers killed, mostly due to stabbings, which is a shocking statistic.
Metropolitan Police Deputy Commander Louise Sargent spoke about the incident, expressing her sadness and concern for the community. She emphasized how tragic it is to lose such a young life and reassured everyone that they are working hard to find those responsible.
