A woman tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident involving a truck and a car in Brixton
Brixton: A tragic incident unfolded on October 1, 2024, when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a truck that didn’t stop. The victim, Safia Ali, in her 50s, was hit around 6:49 PM on Brixton Road, close to Handforth Road.
First, she was hit by a tow truck that sped off, and then another car hit her. Thankfully, the driver of the car did stop. The police are now looking for anyone who might have seen what happened. They’ve also reached out to Safia’s family, who are getting support from specialized officers.
One man was arrested for not stopping after the accident and for causing death by dangerous driving. He’s been released on bail while the investigation continues.

A spokesperson from the Metropolitan Police said they’re eager to hear from witnesses regarding this tragic collision in Brixton. Emergency services were called to the scene, but sadly, despite their efforts, Safia was pronounced dead.
Her family has been informed and is receiving support. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward to help with the investigation.
