A woman tragically lost her life after being struck by a tow truck and another vehicle in a hit-and-run incident in South London
Brixton: A woman named Safia Ali has sadly died after a terrible accident. Police are looking for anyone who might have seen what happened.
She was hit by a tow truck that didn’t stop, and then a car struck her right after. The driver of the car did stop, though. This all went down on Brixton Road near Handforth Road.
Emergency services were called around 6:49 PM on October 1. Despite the quick response from paramedics, Safia, who was in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been notified and is getting support from the police.
One man was arrested for not stopping after the accident and for causing death by dangerous driving. He has since been released while the investigation continues.
According to reports, the second collision happened almost immediately after the first. The police, along with the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene.
A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service mentioned that they arrived within five minutes but, unfortunately, couldn’t save her.
Detectives from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. They want to piece together what happened that tragic evening.
