A woman was injured after being attacked by two large dogs while walking her dog in Llanelli, prompting a visit to the hospital for treatment
Llanelli: So, there was this woman named Jennifer Bennett, 68, who was out for a stroll with her husband, Tony, and their son’s Labrador, Bow. They were just enjoying a nice walk along the Llanelli Millennium Walk when, out of nowhere, two big dogs came charging at them.
The incident happened near the North Dock on Boxing Day, around 2:30 PM. Jennifer got hurt pretty badly when one of the dogs jumped on her back, causing her to lose her balance and fall. She ended up on the ground, and that’s when the dog bit her.
Jennifer described the moment as shocking. She said her husband noticed the first dog approaching and tried to protect Bow. But then, the second dog came from behind, and things escalated quickly. Jennifer ended up bleeding quite a bit and had to go to the A&E in Llanelli for treatment.
At the hospital, they took good care of her. They gave her a tetanus shot and some penicillin since the bite broke her skin. Jennifer mentioned that the staff were really efficient and helpful.
Her husband, Tony, said the dogs looked like large Bernese Mountain dogs. He noticed the first one acting strangely and tried to shield Bow. It all happened so fast, and they were both left in shock.
What really upset them was the dog owner’s reaction. Instead of showing concern, he blamed them, saying Bow should have been muzzled. Tony pointed out that their dog was on a lead and had no intention of causing trouble.
Even though Jennifer had a painful few days after the attack, she’s doing better now, though there’s still some scarring. They both expressed gratitude to the police and hospital staff for their quick response.
The police looked into the incident but closed the case after not identifying any suspects. They informed Jennifer that if any new evidence comes up, they could reopen the investigation.
