Ormskirk: So, this woman named Catherine Fearnley had quite the scare early one morning. She woke up around 5am to some weird noises coming from downstairs. Naturally, she thought someone might be in her house.

When she went to check it out, she stepped right into ice-cold water! Can you imagine? She freaked out and ran back upstairs. Turns out, her home was one of many affected by flooding after heavy rain hit the area on New Year’s Eve.

Catherine said she thought the noise outside was just people coming home from New Year’s parties. But nope, it was floodwaters rising. She was terrified and in total shock. It’s one of those things you see on the news, not something you expect to happen to you.

She found out that the floodwater was coming from underneath her house, and at least 20 homes in her area were flooded too. It was so bad that people were being rescued in boats! Her downstairs was completely submerged, with about five inches of water.

Sadly, she lost a lot of her belongings, including furniture and some really sentimental items. She had memory boxes from her dad and boyfriend that were destroyed. She’s been trying to dry out what she can, but it’s just heartbreaking.

Catherine moved back to Ormskirk to be closer to her dad after he passed away. She wanted to be in a familiar place that reminded her of him. Now, though, she’s feeling lost and can’t even think about going back to that house, knowing it could flood again.

For the past week, she’s been crashing at friends’ places because she doesn’t want to go back to her flooded home. She’s even given her notice to leave because it’s just too much to handle. She had made the place nice, and now it’s all ruined.

She’s grateful for her friends’ support, especially since hotels are way too expensive. Now, she’s on the hunt for a new place to live while juggling all her stuff in bags. It’s a tough situation, but there’s a GoFundMe set up to help her out.
