A woman and her two dogs were saved from a fast-flowing tide in West Kirby, thanks to quick action by the RNLI and Coastguard teams.
The lifeboat was launched super quick, just seven minutes later, and headed towards Little Eye. While they were on their way, they learned that the woman and one dog were making their way back through deep water. But the other dog, Mabel, had swum back to the island and was stuck there.
When the Coastguard team arrived, they confirmed that the woman and one dog had made it to safety. So, the RNLI team, along with the dog’s owner, went back out to rescue Mabel. They managed to get her and bring both dog and owner back to shore.
Even though they were wet and cold, everyone made it back safely. The lifeboat crew returned to the station, cleaned up, and got everything ready for the next call by 2:30 PM.
Andy Brown from the RNLI said it was great that the woman did the right thing by leaving Mabel and heading back to wait for help. He reminded everyone how dangerous those fast tides can be, especially in the cold water this time of year. He also thanked the public for calling 999 when they saw the situation unfold. It’s always smart to check tide times and have a way to call for help if needed. Remember, if you’re ever in a tough spot, don’t hesitate to reach out for help!
