A whisky lover’s night out at a luxury hotel in Scotland led to a jaw-dropping bill of nearly £159,000 after sampling rare drams
Braemar: Can you believe it? A group of whisky fans just racked up a bill of almost £159,000 at The Fife Arms hotel. They were having a blast sampling some of Scotland’s finest whiskies.
This boutique hotel in Aberdeenshire is known for its chic vibe and great bars. But now, it’s making headlines for that jaw-dropping tab. The receipt, which hit social media, shows a staggering £158,914 total!
The priciest drink? A whopping £67,500 for Balvenie 50-year-old whisky. They ordered 15 drams at £4,500 each. Talk about a splurge!
Balvenie describes this whisky as having deep fruit notes and flavors of caramelized fruits and vanilla. Sounds fancy, right?
They also splashed out £40,000 on Laphroaig 1940s Unpeated, getting 10 drams at £4,000 each. Other pricey picks included Glenlivet G&M 1943 and House of Hazelwood Blended at Birth.
One Facebook user shared the bill, joking about the “expensive taste” of the group. Others chimed in, surprised that the tab got so high without some sort of check on the guests.
When asked for a comment, The Fife Arms kept it classy, saying they don’t discuss their guests. But hey, they were recently named the best hotel in the world for 2025 by Condé Nast Traveller!
With all those art pieces and a quirky staff, it’s no wonder they’re getting attention. If you want to know more, check out The Fife Arms website.
