Derbyshire has been named the worst area for potholes in England, but help is on the way with millions pledged for repairs across the region
Derbyshire: So, it turns out Derbyshire has snagged a not-so-great title. The RAC recently named it the worst spot in England for potholes. If you’ve driven around here, you probably get it.
The news comes as the Government has promised a whopping £75 million to fix potholes in the East Midlands. Lilian Greenwood, the Future of Roads Minister, even dropped by JCB Power Systems to check out some cool tech that’s helping tackle this issue.
Derbyshire is in line for a slice of the Government’s £1.6 billion plan to resurface roads across England. Plus, there’s an extra £20 million for the East Midlands County Combined Authority. Greenwood pointed out that potholes are a sign our roads are in trouble, and it’s high time we did something about it.
She mentioned that they’re aiming to fix up to seven million potholes next year, with over £75 million specifically for the East Midlands. JCB’s Pothole Pro is one of the nifty tools being used to speed up repairs.
While this funding is great news for drivers in Derbyshire, we all know some roads are just terrible. We’re on a mission to find out which road is the absolute worst and needs fixing the most.
