After Storm Darragh, drop-in centres in West Wales are providing essential support for residents without power, offering warmth, hot drinks, and charging facilities.
Dyfed-Powys Police stepped in to help by setting up drop-in centres in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and Powys. These places are a real lifesaver, offering spots to charge your phone, grab a hot drink, and even take a shower in some locations.
In Carmarthenshire, you can find open leisure centres in Carmarthen, St Clears, and Llandovery, staying open until midnight. They’ll be back at it tomorrow morning too, with early openings at 6:30 am and 7:30 am, respectively. You can even fill up your flasks with hot water to take home!
Ceredigion has its own spots too, like the Council Offices in Penmorfa and leisure centres in Cardigan and Plascrug. Just a heads up, though—showers in Aberaeron aren’t available right now, but the other two places have them. All three spots offer hot drinks and charging stations.
Over in Pembrokeshire, several leisure centres, including Haverfordwest and St Davids, will be open until 9 pm today and back at 6 am tomorrow. Crymych Leisure Centre is also there for those near the border with Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire.
In Powys, Welshpool and Brecon leisure centres are keeping their doors open until midnight and might stay open overnight if needed. These centres are perfect for staying warm, enjoying a hot drink or snack, and recharging your devices.
Residents are encouraged to check their local council’s website or social media for updates. The police have also given a shout-out to the community for looking out for each other during this tough time.
