Chepstow: The Welsh Grand National is back, and it’s a big deal! This event is one of the highlights of the festive sports calendar, drawing in crowds year after year.
Many famous horses have made their mark here, like Native River and last year’s winner, Nassalam. It’s a race steeped in history, first held in 1895 at Ely Racecourse before moving to Chepstow in 1949.
For 2024, the winner will snag a cool £85,425. The race is a Premier Handicap National Hunt steeplechase, covering three miles and 6.5 furlongs with 23 fences. The total prize pool is £150,000, so there’s plenty to race for!
So, when’s the big race? It kicks off at 2:50 PM on December 27 at Chepstow. The first race of the day starts at noon, and the last one wraps up at 3:25 PM.
