Kian Holt expresses remorse after being sentenced for chanting slurs at a football match
Liverpool: Kian Holt was in the spotlight after a rough day in court. The 19-year-old was caught chanting some pretty nasty slurs during a match against Manchester City.
He was seen banging on a metal wall and shouting in the away section at Anfield. A steward noticed and alerted the police, leading to his arrest.
In court, Kian seemed genuinely remorseful. He admitted he didn’t really understand the weight of his words until it was explained to him. His lawyer shared that he’s a season ticket holder for Manchester City and has been reflecting on his actions.
It turns out Kian has a personal connection to Liverpool, having received treatment at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital for a heart condition. His grandfather had a heart-to-heart with him about the impact of his behavior, especially given the tragedies that have affected football fans.
As he stood in court, Kian wiped away tears while the judge reminded him that there are limits to what can be said at a football match. The judge emphasized that many people in the crowd have lived through real tragedies.
When he left the court, Kian was approached by reporters. He didn’t say much but did manage to say “I’m sorry” when asked about his actions. He was handed a three-year Football Banning Order and a fine, which he has to pay soon.
