Kent Police arrested Daniel Bryan after uncovering a modified gun concealed in his sock, leading to a six-year jail sentence for firearms offenses.
Daniel Bryan, who lived on Stofield Gardens in Eltham, was found guilty by a jury for a crime involving a firearm that occurred on July 30, 2024. He was subsequently jailed.
Kent Police received a tip about a ‘suspicious car’ traveling from Brixton to Kent early in the morning. Police tracked the car to Ashford Road in Maidstone, where it stopped. Two people were in the car, including Bryan and another individual. Police detained both people.
Officers searched Bryan and found a gun concealed in his sock under his jogging bottoms. The discovery was filmed by officers’ cameras, and the police seized the gun. Bryan was arrested immediately, and tests revealed that the gun was a modified starter pistol capable of firing real bullets.
Bryan, age 30, was charged with possessing a banned gun, to which he pleaded not guilty. A trial was held at the court in Maidstone, and the jury found him guilty. On January 31, 2025, the court sentenced Bryan to six and a half years in jail.
Police officer Stuart Drakeley stated that Bryan’s gun, which had been modified to fire live rounds, posed a significant danger. It could have been used to kill someone in a crime. Bryan had no legitimate reason to possess the weapon, broke the law, and is now incarcerated.
The police are committed to removing illegal guns from Kent and will continue their efforts to locate them. Individuals found in possession of these illegal weapons will face imprisonment as Kent Police are serious about safety. They will continue to patrol and enforce the law.
