Drivers in Essex are facing vehicle issues after contaminated fuel was reported at a major petrol station
Rayleigh: So, there’s been a bit of a mess at a BP garage in Essex. Drivers are getting hit with car troubles after filling up with contaminated fuel. It all kicked off last Monday when folks started noticing their vehicles acting up.
It turned into quite the scene, with many cars breaking down. The garage had to shut down for a bit to sort things out, but they reopened the next day after isolating the bad fuel pump.
BP is on it, though. They’ve launched an investigation to figure out what went wrong. A spokesperson mentioned they’ve found the affected fuel tank and are looking into how many people might be impacted.
They also advised anyone worried to reach out to their careline for help. A local expert thinks the problem might be due to petrol mixing with water, which is not good news.
Lee Pretlove, who runs a fuel draining service, said he’s been super busy lately. He’s helped around 40 drivers since the issue started, but he thinks the number could be closer to 100 who used that faulty pump.
One poor guy had five of his vans break down on the same day! You can imagine how frustrated he was. Plus, dealing with contaminated fuel can lead to some hefty repair bills, like needing new plugs and filters.
