Leicestershire: So, here’s the scoop. Drivers are being warned about some closures on the A42, which is near East Midlands Airport. It’s going to affect the roads that connect a roundabout close to the airport with the M1 southbound.

The closures kick off on Monday, January 6, and they’re going to hit the southbound side of the A42. This means the stretch from Finger Farm Island at Castle Donington to the M1 will be closed, along with the main part of the A42 heading towards Ashby, all the way to junction 14 near Tonge.

National Highways is behind this closure, and they say it’s for some electrical work that needs doing. They’ve promised that diversions will be set up and clearly marked, so keep an eye out for those signs.

The closures will run from January 6 to January 25, starting at 8 PM each night and wrapping up by 6 AM the next morning. Plus, there’s going to be a single lane closure on the M1 southbound between junctions 23 and 24a, which is about a two-mile stretch near the airport.
