A bizarre incident in Kilrea has raised concerns after a man in yellow was spotted loitering, prompting police to increase patrols in the area.
Kilrea: So, there’s this weird story going around about a “suspicious yellow man” who was caught hanging around on the roadside. It’s pretty creepy, right?
The video that’s making the rounds shows this guy in a long yellow coat, yellow pants, and boots, just strolling in front of a car late at night. People are talking about it all over social media.
Some folks even thought he might have been carrying a weapon, but the guy who filmed it, Gerard McFerran, doesn’t think that’s true. He just found it odd.
Police have noticed the strange behavior and are stepping up patrols in Kilrea, especially after this incident on Vow Road. They’re urging people to report anything unusual they see.
Gerard shared his experience with Belfast Live, saying he was driving when he spotted the man in yellow. He thought it was strange and asked him about his outfit. The guy mostly ignored him, only saying it “wasn’t him” and that he couldn’t take off his mask.
Gerard mentioned that he heard people online saying the man was armed, but he never said that. He thinks the guy was just fidgeting in his pocket, which led to the rumors.
Police are also keeping an eye on nearby areas like Rasharkin and Dunloy after similar reports. Inspector Burns from the Police Service Northern Ireland reassured everyone that they take these reports seriously and are committed to keeping the community safe.
He encouraged anyone who sees something suspicious or is worried about someone to reach out to the police, whether it’s an emergency or not. Better safe than sorry, right?
