A new study reveals that 40% of Welsh bus riders make lasting friendships, highlighting the social connections formed during commutes.
Cardiff: You won’t believe this, but in Wales, people are actually chatting with strangers on buses instead of zoning out with headphones. A recent study found that 40% of folks in Wales have made real friendships while riding the bus.
Interestingly, even though the Welsh are known for their friendliness, they don’t top the list. Londoners beat them out, with 46% making friends on public transport. Who would’ve thought?
When asked about losing bus services, a quarter of Welsh people said they’d feel isolated. This feeling is even stronger in Cardiff, where 28% expressed the same concern.
To celebrate these connections, TV personality Josie Gibson took a bus tour with First Bus, sharing how important these rides are for staying connected to her community. She called the bus an unsung hero for bringing people together.
First Bus is also making big changes to focus more on passengers and their experiences. It’s all about building those connections!
