Wales U20s secured a 42-21 victory against the new Welsh Academies U23s team last night, showcasing impressive talent and teamwork.
Cardiff: Last night, Wales Under 20s faced off against the newly-formed Welsh Academies Under 23s team, and it was quite the showdown! The U20s came out on top with a solid 42-21 win.
This new U23 team was set up by the WRU to help players who have moved past the age-grade teams find their footing in professional rugby. It’s also a chance for late bloomers to shine.
Richard Whiffin’s squad really showed their stuff as they gear up for their Six Nations opener against France. They scored six tries, and the highlight was definitely Iorrie Badham’s incredible run, where he sprinted half the pitch to score.
Captain Harry Beddall kicked things off with a try early on, and the U23s did fight back with a try of their own, but the U20s quickly regained control.
As the game went on, both teams made substitutions, but the U20s kept pushing. Delnovo added to the score with a fantastic run, and Badham’s late flourish sealed the deal for the U20s.
Whiffin was pleased with the performance, noting the physicality and effort from the players. He mentioned some areas to improve but felt it was a great warm-up for their upcoming match against France.
