Wales rugby player Aaron Wainwright exits match due to head injury, while coach Filo Tiatia reflects on a disappointing first half performance.
Wainwright didn’t come back for the second half, which is a bummer, especially with the Six Nations squad announcement coming up soon. The Dragons were trailing 24-3 at halftime, and Tiatia, who just returned from New Zealand, was not happy with the team’s performance.
He said they only played for 40 minutes and really didn’t show up in the first half. Tiatia emphasized that they need to be on their game for the full 80 minutes. He mentioned that they have a lot of work to do, not just the players but the whole team, to improve their performances.
He was proud of the effort in the second half but made it clear that the first half was not something to be proud of. Meanwhile, Ospreys coach Mark Jones had no issues with a red card given to James Fender during their match against Cardiff, which ended in a 13-13 draw.
Jones felt the team fought well despite being down a player but was frustrated they couldn’t secure a win. He acknowledged that Fender’s red card was deserved, noting that reckless play can lead to serious injuries.
Cardiff’s coach, Matt Sherratt, also felt they dropped a couple of points against the Ospreys, especially since they were playing against 14 men for part of the match. He pointed out that the game was filled with penalties, which disrupted the flow.
Overall, it seems like both teams have some things to work on as they move forward in the season.
