Wales is reportedly eyeing Matt Ferguson as he departs Northampton Saints, aiming to revamp their coaching staff for the upcoming season
Cardiff: So, it looks like Wales is on the hunt for a new coach! Reports say they’re interested in Matt Ferguson, who’s leaving Northampton Saints.
Ferguson, who’s been with Northampton since 2017, decided not to extend his contract. He’s had quite the journey, even helping England Women reach the World Cup final.
Now, with his departure confirmed, Wales might swoop in. They could even let him juggle roles with Northampton while the Premiership takes a break during the Six Nations.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the Welsh Rugby Union said Warren Gatland would stay on as head coach, but they’re open to shaking up the coaching staff. They want to improve the team’s mindset and culture.
CEO Abi Tierney mentioned they’re looking at options based on data and availability. It sounds like they’re really considering how to make things better for the squad.
