The Met Office warns Wales could see temperatures drop to -5C, with snow and icy conditions expected this weekend
Cardiff: So, it looks like Wales is in for a chilly weekend! The Met Office is saying we might get three days of snow, and it’s going to be icy too. Starting Thursday, temperatures are really going to drop, and we’ll feel the bite of winter.
They’ve even put out a yellow weather warning for ice, kicking in at 4 PM on Wednesday. It’ll last until 10 AM on Thursday, so be careful if you’re out and about.
After all that rain we’ve had, the skies are finally clearing up, but that means colder temps. Roads and paths could get pretty slippery, so watch your step!
Now, Friday looks a bit better, but Saturday is when the snow warning kicks in. Some areas might see just a little, but higher spots could get up to 30 cm. That warning lasts from noon Saturday until 9 AM Monday.
In Cardiff, we’ll start Wednesday around 6-7°C, but by midnight, it’ll drop to 4°C. Thursday morning is going to be even colder, hitting a low of 1°C. By the evening, we could be looking at 0°C, and it might even dip to -1°C later on.
Swansea will be a tad warmer, starting at 8°C on Wednesday but dropping to 4°C by midnight. Thursday morning will see it at 1°C, and it’ll get colder as the day goes on.
St David’s will have highs of 8°C on Wednesday, but it’ll drop to 3°C by Friday morning. Aberystwyth is also in for a chilly spell, with temps falling to -1°C overnight.
Holyhead and Wrexham are looking at similar drops in temperature, with Wrexham hitting -1°C by Thursday morning. Builth Wells, known for being one of the coldest spots, could see lows of -5°C overnight on Thursday.
So, if you’re in Wales, bundle up and stay warm! It’s going to be a frosty few days ahead.
