London: So, guess what? Waitrose is back with its free coffee deal! If you’re a My Waitrose member, you can grab a hot drink every day without buying anything else. How cool is that?

This starts on January 27, and all you need is a reusable cup. Just pop into a Waitrose or Little Waitrose, and you’re good to go. You can choose from a regular americano, cappuccino, latte, or tea. Just remember, this offer is only at standalone stores, not at cafes or petrol stations.

And here’s a bonus: if you like oat milk or other dairy alternatives, they won’t cost you extra. Just scan your My Waitrose card at the self-serve coffee machines, and you’re all set.

If you’re not a member yet, signing up is super easy and free online. You’ll get a digital card right away, and after three days, you can request a physical one.

This freebie was first introduced back in 2013 but changed a bit in 2017. During the pandemic, it was completely paused, but now it’s making a comeback. Previously, you had to make a purchase to get your drink, but they’ve dropped that rule based on customer feedback.

Interestingly, when it first launched, some folks were worried it would hurt local coffee shops. Even a Labour MP raised concerns about it back in 2014. But despite the fuss, people loved the scheme.

Oh, and here’s a fun fact: Waitrose also gives free coffee to police officers now, which is part of a plan to help reduce shoplifting. It’s all about making the shopping experience better for everyone!
