A vulnerable man was robbed in Dublin, leaving his mother deeply concerned about his safety and the targeting of those with disabilities
Dublin: A vulnerable man was robbed in broad daylight, and it’s a real shocker. Joshua, just 23, was on a college trip when two women approached him.
They caught him off guard while he was grabbing a bite to eat. They asked him for money, claiming they were hungry. Poor Joshua didn’t know what to do.
His mum, Ruth, shared how they convinced him to give them his card. They took him to an ATM, and thankfully, a shop employee noticed something was off.
When Joshua’s card got stuck, the manager stepped in and scared the women away. But they didn’t stop there; they were waiting for him outside!
They took him to another ATM and managed to withdraw €500. Ruth was horrified when she found out. She believes they targeted him because he’s vulnerable.
Joshua thought he was just helping them out, which makes it even more heartbreaking. Ruth is shaken but relieved he’s okay, though she knows he might react to this later.
Gardai are looking into the incident, and it’s a reminder to keep an eye out for those who might be taken advantage of.
