Today, voters in Liverpool can cast their ballots for the Much Woolton and Hunts Cross seat after a council member stepped down.
The Liberal Democrats are looking to hold onto the seat against candidates from Labour, Conservatives, Greens, and Reform UK. Aizlewood, who was elected in 2023, said it was a “great honour” to serve but he just couldn’t continue anymore.
Five candidates are in the running, and if the Lib Dems win, it could end Labour’s long streak of by-election victories in Liverpool. Former councillor Josie Mullen is back in the mix for the Lib Dems after a decade in the Town Hall.
The Labour Party has Tanya Blake running, while teacher Mike Bates is representing the Greens. Adam Heatherington is with Reform UK, and Adam Marsden is the Conservative candidate. Polls are open from 7 am to 10 pm, so there’s plenty of time for voters to make their voices heard.
