A spy for Putin was found in Norfolk with a stash of high-tech surveillance gear
Norfolk: So, there’s this wild story about a guy named Orlin Roussev. He’s a spy for Vladimir Putin and was found with a crazy stash of gadgets in his hideout. Can you believe it? He even compared himself to “Q” from James Bond, which is just a bit over the top.
Roussev, who’s 46, has admitted to running a spy ring for the Kremlin. Another guy, Bizer Dzhambazov, is in trouble too for trying to gather info for the enemy. They were living in a guesthouse near Great Yarmouth, and it turns out they had a ton of spy gear for some serious missions across Europe.
In court, it came out that Roussev was all about showing off his “toys” to his buddies. He was taking orders from a guy named Jan Marsalek, who’s wanted for a massive tech fraud case. Talk about a shady crew!
Police found even more surveillance stuff at Dzhambazov’s flat in North London. They recovered thousands of items, including a cap with a hidden camera and a Coke bottle that had a waterproof camera inside. How sneaky is that?
They even found a micro SD card tucked away in a Minion toy. It’s like something out of a movie! Operation Skirp, which is the name of the police operation, seized over 3,500 pieces of evidence, including a bunch of digital stuff.
One of the gadgets they showed in court was an “IMSI grabber.” It’s this black box that can capture phone numbers from nearby areas and is worth a whopping £120,000. There’s also this other gadget called the Razor II, which can be used anywhere and has a wi-fi interface for remote communication.
And get this, there’s a system called “Stealth” that’s small enough to hide under your clothes. These devices are no joke; they can intercept phone calls and even track phone locations. It’s all pretty intense.
Some other folks in this alleged spy group, all from Bulgaria, are denying the charges. They include a lab assistant, a beautician, and a painter. It’s a wild story, and it’s still unfolding!
