CCTV footage reveals a shocking burglary at a Cornwall filling station where thieves stole cigarettes and tobacco early Monday morning
Cornwall: You won’t believe what happened at a filling station recently. CCTV caught two burglars in the act, and it’s pretty wild. They broke in and made off with a ton of cigarettes and tobacco.
This all went down at Westways Filling Station in Tregaswith, near St Columb Major, around 5 AM on Monday. It seems like they were on a roll, as two Spar shops in Newquay were also hit over the weekend. The police are looking into whether these break-ins are connected.
The thieves didn’t waste any time. They forced their way in, grabbed cigarettes, tobacco, and even some alcohol, then took off. The footage shows them rummaging through the drawers and stuffing everything into black bags. It’s a real mess.
After the break-in, the owners, Sandra and Nick Lomax, had to close the shop for most of the morning to clean up. They managed to reopen around noon, but they couldn’t sell any cigarettes or tobacco, which must have been frustrating.
The police are on it, investigating the break-ins and an attempted one at another Spar nearby. They’re asking anyone who saw anything or has info to give them a shout. If you’ve got any tips, call 101 and reference the case number.
