Three individuals were rescued from the Cairngorms during a severe snowstorm, showcasing the bravery of the rescue teams involved
Aberdeen: So, there was this wild situation in the Cairngorms where three people needed rescuing because of a crazy snowstorm. The Cairngorms Mountain Rescue Team jumped into action late Tuesday night.
They had to deal with two rescues at the same time, which is pretty intense. The footage shows them trudging through some seriously deep snow, like waist-deep at times. Can you imagine?
One of the folks they rescued had a nasty cut on their leg from a crampon. They found this climber on the west side of spot height 1141. The team helped them warm up and treated the wound before guiding them back through the snowy mess.
Meanwhile, a couple camping near the Saddle sent out an SOS because the weather was getting really bad. The rescue team found them, warmed them up, and helped them out safely, too. It was no walk in the park, that’s for sure!
By the way, the Met Office had issued a yellow weather warning for the area, predicting heavy snowfall and freezing temps. It was a rough night for everyone involved.
After all the rescues, the team thanked Cairngorm Mountain Resort for clearing the roads and helping them get to the rescue sites. Thankfully, all three people made it down safely, and the rescue crews wrapped up their night around 1:30 AM.
This wasn’t the first rescue of the week, either. Just a few days earlier, another group had to be helped down from The Pools of Dee. It’s been a busy time for the mountain rescue teams!
