Keswick: So, there’s this really shocking story about a guy named Daniel Holden. He attacked his wife with a pick axe and then called 999 to report it. Can you believe that?

This all went down on July 5, 2024. Daniel, who’s 56, was living on Station Road. He ended up in court for grievous bodily harm. He actually pleaded guilty back in November.

When he called the ambulance, he told them he had hit his wife on the head and that she was badly hurt and bleeding a lot. It’s just awful.

When the police got there, he admitted to hitting her three times. He even told them where the axe was. It’s just mind-boggling how someone could do that.

His wife was rushed to the Royal Victoria Infirmary with a serious head injury. The detective in charge, DI Suzanne Redikin, said Holden knew exactly what he was doing and that it could have been fatal.

It’s a stark reminder of how dangerous domestic violence can be. The police and courts are taking this very seriously, and rightly so.

It’s just heartbreaking to think about what the victim is going through. Let’s hope she gets the support she needs to recover from this terrible experience.
