A man was arrested at the US Capitol with a machete and knives just before Trump’s arrival, raising security concerns.
The police caught him when an X-ray machine spotted the machete at the visitor center. They’re still trying to figure out what he was up to. With everything that’s been happening lately, security was already on high alert.
The Capitol Police said they arrested him for carrying dangerous weapons. This all went down just before Trump was meeting with Senate Republicans and paying respects to former President Jimmy Carter, who was lying in state.
The cops nabbed the guy around 2 PM as he was trying to get through security. They found the machete and those knives in his bag. Meanwhile, folks were coming in to honor Carter, so it was a pretty tense moment.
And get this, earlier that day, another guy from Virginia was arrested for trying to set his car on fire near the Capitol. Just a crazy day all around!
