A V-22 Osprey was spotted flying over the South West, intriguing locals and aviation fans alike.
St Just: Today, locals spotted a unique military aircraft flying overhead. The V-22 Osprey took off from RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk. It flew across southern England and reached western Cornwall by noon.
Aviation fans tracked its journey on FlightRadar. They noted the Osprey made several circuits above St Just and Lamorna. This happened between 12 PM and 12:30 PM before it headed back toward Devon.
The V-22 Osprey is a military transport aircraft used by the US Air Force. It was developed by Boeing and cost billions to create. This aircraft can take off and land like a helicopter but flies like a plane.
Powered by Rolls-Royce engines, each Osprey costs millions to produce. A local resident filmed the aircraft and wondered what it was doing in St Just. The reason for its visit remains unclear.
Alongside the Osprey, FlightRadar also showed two British Royal Navy helicopters operating along the Cornish coast.
