Hirwaun: So, there’s this massive road project happening in Wales, right? The A465 is getting a serious upgrade, and it’s all set to finish this summer. They’ve been working on it since 2021, and it’s costing a whopping £1.4 billion.
The Welsh Government is pretty excited about it. They say it’ll make getting around easier, cut down on travel times, and boost road safety. Plus, it’s going to be a dual carriageway with six junctions, which is pretty cool.
When it’s all done, we’ll have 17.7 kilometers of new dual carriageway, 6.1 kilometers of side roads, and over 14 kilometers of paths for walking and cycling. They’re even building 30 new bridges and 28 retaining walls. Talk about a big deal!
Ken Skates, the transport minister, called it an impressive engineering feat. He mentioned how it’s not just about the roads; it’s also creating jobs and helping the local community. Over 2,000 jobs have popped up because of this project, with many locals getting hired.
