Drivers are warned about the UK’s most perilous roads, which offer breathtaking scenery but require skill to navigate safely

A law firm called JMW recently pointed out that Kirkstone Pass is a real challenge. It’s the highest pass in the Lake District, connecting Ambleside to Patterdale. The road has sharp turns and steep slopes, reaching a height of 1,489 feet. You’ve got to stay focused while driving, even with all that gorgeous scenery around.
This pass is famous for its breathtaking views, especially in the evenings when the light hits just right. But getting there isn’t a walk in the park. The road is narrow and twisty, so you’ve got to be careful the whole way.
JMW also mentioned another tricky road in Wales called the Snowdonia Mountainous Passage. It connects Llanelltyd to Blaenau Ffestiniog and can be pretty dangerous. The views are so nice that they can distract drivers, especially when going uphill.
To stay safe on these thrilling roads, it’s best to pick a clear, dry day. Keep a steady pace and stick to a low gear if you decide to tackle them.
Lastly, they warned about the A57, or Snake Pass, in the Pennines. If you’re not super confident behind the wheel, it might be best to avoid it. This road has a history of accidents, with 137 reported between 2014 and 2018. It can get icy and snowy, so if you’re planning to drive through in winter, you might want to find another route.
