President Zelensky shares images of the captured soldiers as they assist Ukrainian forces in Kyiv
Kursk: So, get this! Ukraine just captured two North Korean soldiers alive, and President Zelensky shared some pretty rare photos of them. It’s a big deal because these guys are the first ones taken alive since Kim Jong-un sent his troops to help Putin.
The captured soldiers are currently in Kyiv, working with the Ukrainian secret service, the SBU. Zelensky mentioned that these two were wounded but managed to survive. He said it wasn’t an easy task since usually, the Russians and North Koreans take out their wounded to hide any evidence of their involvement in the war.
Zelensky expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian soldiers who captured these men. He emphasized that they are getting the medical care they need. He also instructed the SBU to let journalists meet the prisoners so the world can see what’s really happening.
Interestingly, one of the soldiers had a fake Russian identity, which is a tactic the Russians use to disguise North Korean troops. The ID claimed he was from a remote area in Siberia, but the Ukrainians are pretty sure they are North Korean.
During questioning, one of the captives revealed that he received the fake ID when he was brought to fight in the war. He mentioned that North Korean units had some training with Russian groups last autumn.
Putin has been trying to keep the number of North Korean fighters under wraps, but reports suggest he’s drafted over 11,000 of them. Zelensky pointed out that many of these soldiers have already been killed or injured in battle.
It’s a tough situation, and while Russia has made some small gains, they haven’t been able to push Ukrainian forces out of the Kursk region. The conflict continues to unfold, and it’s hard to say what will happen next.
