A thief who stole nearly £40,000 from stores has been banned from all Boots locations for five years after being caught with the same bag.
Malvern: So, there’s this guy, Craig Sawyer, who thought he could outsmart everyone by changing his look. He dyed his hair and wore different disguises while shoplifting. But guess what? He always used the same brown satchel, which totally gave him away.
He managed to swipe around £39,500 worth of stuff, mostly from Boots and a few other stores. But his luck ran out when he was caught at a Co-op last Saturday. Now, he’s banned from all 2,100 Boots stores for five years. Talk about a major fail!
In court, they found out he had stolen a whopping £28,000 from Boots alone. He got nailed for 16 thefts in total, including a bunch from stores in Evesham and Walsall. The judge wasn’t having it and sentenced him to nine-and-a-half months in jail.
On top of that, he got a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order, which means he can’t step foot in any Boots store in the UK. He’s also banned from Worcestershire until 2030. The guy really thought he could fool everyone with his hair dye and glasses, but it turns out the same old bag was his downfall.
When the cops caught him, they found he was wearing multiple jackets to change his look. But in the end, it was that brown shoulder bag that sealed his fate. Inspector Dave Wise from the police said this was a big win for them and a step towards protecting local retailers.
