Cardiff: Two businesses from west Wales recently got some well-deserved recognition at the Careers Wales Valued Partner Awards 2025. Canolfan S4C Yr Egin and Hywel Dda University Health Board were celebrated for their amazing contributions to helping learners connect their studies with future job opportunities.

The awards were announced on January 15 during a ceremony in Cardiff, showcasing businesses that have inspired students across Wales throughout the year. Canolfan S4C Yr Egin snagged the title of Best Promoter of Welsh in the Workplace for its efforts in promoting the Welsh language as a key skill for employers.

Llinos Jones, the engagement manager at Canolfan S4C Yr Egin, shared how much winning this award means to them. They use Welsh every day, so it’s great to show students how important the language is in their industry.

Hywel Dda University Health Board received the Outstanding Achievement Award for giving students experiences that encourage them to consider careers in the NHS. Amanda Glanville, their assistant director of people development, expressed her pride in receiving this award, highlighting their commitment to creating pathways and opportunities for the next generation.

The ceremony also honored several other businesses in Wales. Morlais was named Best Newcomer, while BBC Studios and BBC Cymru Wales were recognized for their ongoing relationships with schools. Grounds for Good won the Most Supportive Small Business award, and Westward Energy Services was named the Most Supportive Work Experience Employer.

Additionally, Catrin Leader from Bute Energy and Gwenno Angharad Williams from Cyngor Gwynedd were acknowledged for their outstanding personal contributions. Viridor was recognized as the Best Supporter of the Net Zero Agenda.

Nikki Lawrence, the chief executive at Careers Wales, congratulated all the winners and nominees, thanking them for their dedication. Jack Sargeant, the minister for culture, skills, and social partnership, emphasized how this recognition showcases the impact Welsh businesses have on shaping young people’s futures.

These awards highlight the vital role employers play in providing young people with valuable career experiences, and it’s great to see such commitment in the community.
