Authorities are investigating the suspected illegal release of two lynx in the Cairngorms National Park, urging the public to stay away.
Cairngorms: So, it turns out two lynx are wandering around the UK countryside after someone let them loose. The Cairngorms National Park Authority got the word out on Wednesday evening, warning folks about the situation.
They’re working with Police Scotland to figure out what happened. The good news? These lynx are pretty shy, so they’re not likely to bother anyone. A spokesperson from the park said they’re really concerned about the illegal release and the well-being of the lynx.
If you happen to see one, they’re asking you not to get too close. Just keep your distance. The police are still looking into it, and the Highland Wildlife Park is helping out with the search, too.
A rep from the park mentioned they’re on it, even though the lynx aren’t theirs. They’re teaming up with the police to safely catch the animals. Again, they stressed that while lynx aren’t a threat, it’s best to stay away if you spot one.
Police Scotland is also on the case and has asked for the public’s help. They’ve spotted the lynx in the Drumguish area near Kingussie. If you see them, don’t approach—just call the police and give them the incident number.
