County Durham: So, there were these two drivers who got arrested after a couple of crashes on the A19. It caused quite a mess, and the road was shut down for hours.

Both accidents happened near Castle Eden on a Sunday morning. The first one was around 5am when an Audi hit a lamp post. While the police were dealing with that, another crash happened. A Toyota ran into a parked police car and another lamp post.

The Audi driver is in North Tees Hospital with some serious injuries. Thankfully, it seems like no one else got hurt. Both drivers are now facing charges related to their driving.

Durham Constabulary has confirmed that the southbound lane is back open. They’re asking anyone who saw what happened, or who might have seen the Audi before the crash, to get in touch.

If you have any info or dashcam footage, you can call the Collision Investigation Unit at 101 and mention incident reference number 44 from January 12.
