Two people were treated after a livestock trailer overturned on the M74, causing significant traffic delays this afternoon.
Glasgow: This afternoon, a livestock trailer flipped over on the M74, and it caused quite a scene. Two folks needed medical attention from paramedics after the incident.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service reported that the trailer was loaded with animals when it overturned just before Junction 5, near the Bellshill Bypass. This happened around 3 PM, and it blocked two lanes of the motorway.
Traffic cameras caught the trailer lying across the road, and emergency crews were quick to respond. Thankfully, all lanes were back open by about 5:17 PM, but the traffic was still a mess.
Drivers faced heavy delays, with some stuck in queues stretching over four miles. Traffic Scotland mentioned that delays were around 45 minutes even after the lanes reopened.
A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said they got the call at 2:58 PM about the overturned vehicle. They sent out four fire appliances and other resources to help out.
Two people were looked after by the Scottish Ambulance Service, and the crews made sure everything was safe before leaving the scene.
Traffic Scotland updated everyone on social media, saying all lanes were running again at the Raith Interchange, but the traffic was still heavy.
