Police uncovered two cannabis farms in Muckley Corner, Staffordshire, just days apart, leading to an arrest and ongoing investigations
Muckley Corner: So, get this! Police busted two cannabis farms on the same street in just a few days. It all went down in this little village near Lichfield right around New Year.
First, they got a call about a burglary on Walsall Road just before 6:45 PM on New Year’s Eve. When the officers showed up, they found a cannabis farm with 46 plants worth nearly £50,000. Crazy, right?
They secured the place and took the plants. Then, just a couple of days later, on January 2, British Gas tipped them off about another suspected grow on the same street.
This time, they found the remains of two more grows and even spotted a stolen Peugeot parked outside. They made one arrest, too.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said they’re looking into the whole situation. They were called about that burglary on December 31, and when they checked it out, they found those 46 plants. They had to call Western Power to sort out the electrics.
Then, on Thursday morning, they got the heads-up from British Gas about the other property. Officers found more evidence of cannabis growing and that stolen car outside.
They arrested a 58-year-old man from the Lichfield area on suspicion of growing cannabis and stealing a vehicle. He’s been released while they keep investigating.
If anyone knows anything, they’re encouraged to reach out to the police. They’re really focused on tackling drug supply in the area and working with the community to spot these grows.
By the way, Staffordshire Police shared some tips for folks to watch out for signs of cannabis farms nearby. If you smell something strong, see condensation on windows, or notice blacked-out windows, those could be red flags.
Also, if you see a lot of deliveries or hear constant buzzing from ventilation, that’s not a good sign. And if there’s snow on the ground but not on a nearby roof, that could mean there’s a cannabis farm heating things up inside.
So, if you suspect something’s off, don’t hesitate to call 101 and report it!
