Trowbridge Park plans to replace its artificial pond with a natural wetland reserve to enhance local wildlife and community enjoyment
Trowbridge: Exciting news is coming from Trowbridge Park! They’re planning to turn the old, leaky artificial pond into a beautiful natural wetland reserve. This project is all about bringing back wildlife and making the park a nicer spot for everyone.
The plans will be shown to the public later this month at the Civic Centre. People can drop by on January 16th from noon to 6:30 PM to check out what’s in store. It’s a great chance for locals to see how their ideas are shaping the park’s future.
With help from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Johns Associates, the new design aims to attract all sorts of wildlife. The idea is to let the Paxcroft Brook flow freely instead of being stuck in a brick culvert. This will create a winding waterway that keeps the wetland lively all year round.
They’re also planning to add features to the riverbed that will help fish and other aquatic creatures thrive. Plus, with new wetland plants, we can expect to see more dragonflies and birds around. It’s all about boosting biodiversity!
Cllr Stephen Cooper, the Mayor, is really excited about this. He believes it’ll not only create a natural ecosystem but also a lovely space for the community. There will be boardwalks for people to stroll around and enjoy the views, along with benches to sit and soak it all in.
Instead of just fixing up the old pond, which had issues with leaks and high water levels, this new plan is a much better option. It’s all about making Trowbridge Park a vibrant and enjoyable place for everyone.
