The community mourns the loss of Noel Crowley, a beloved former councillor who passed away after a road accident in Port Talbot
Port Talbot: It’s a sad day for the community after the passing of Noel Crowley, a former council leader. He was 86 and sadly died in the hospital following a road accident.
Noel was involved in a serious collision on Water Street on December 7. He fought for three days but passed away at the Heath Hospital in Cardiff.
He served as a councillor for 25 years and was a well-respected figure in Neath Port Talbot. His family shared how much he meant to everyone, describing him as a devoted family man and a community pillar.
His wife Anne, whom he married in 1957, stood by him through thick and thin. They were together for an incredible 70 years. He was also a loving grandfather, especially to his grandson Sam, who has autism.
Noel was known for his wisdom and kindness. He worked as a bricklayer and later became a deputy manager at a local steel works. His contributions to the community were recognized with a CBE from Queen Elizabeth II.
In retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and made many friends at the Pyle & Kenfig golf club. He stepped back from golf recently to care for Anne, who has been unwell.
His family shared that he had a knack for storytelling and always greeted people with a smile. They are heartbroken but grateful for the love and memories he left behind.
As the community comes together to remember Noel, his legacy of love and service will surely live on.
