A tree planting project has successfully raised over £16,000 for North Devon Hospice, enhancing local green efforts and community support.
North Devon: A fantastic tree planting initiative has raised over £16,000 for North Devon Hospice. This project, run by Trees For Good Causes, is all about supporting local charities while boosting community green efforts.
They hit a big milestone, handing over £16,262.75 to the hospice. It’s amazing how local businesses teamed up to make this happen. They sold trees and got the community involved, showing just how powerful working together can be.
For example, Marshall Volkswagen in Barnstaple offered tree planting as a cool alternative to a free car wash when customers got their cars serviced. They even planted trees as gifts for customers. Mark Short, the general manager, said people are always eager to help out when they hear about the great work Trees For Good Causes is doing.
Another local business, Taylored Campervan Conversions, planted a tree for every eco-friendly campervan they converted. Their managing director, Georgie Taylor, shared how sustainability is at the heart of their work. They want to make a real difference for both the environment and the community.
Georgie also mentioned their partnership with Trees For Good Causes, which not only helps with reforestation but also provides crucial funding for local organizations like North Devon Hospice. The hospice is all about caring for patients and their families, and this funding is a big help.
Claire Paine from the hospice expressed how blown away they are by the funds raised. This money will help them continue their important work in the community and keep North Devon beautiful for everyone.
All the trees sold are being planted nearby, with some just five miles from where they were bought. They even had a special volunteer day at the Fern Animal Sanctuary in Somerset, which is pretty cool.
Edward Prouse, the director of Trees For Good Causes, said they’re grateful for all the support. They’re not just raising money; they’re also making a real difference for the environment and local wildlife. It’s a win-win situation.
Since starting in late 2021, this initiative has gained a lot of support from businesses and individuals alike. Joanna Benbow, another director, thanked everyone involved and shared their excitement for the future. They plan to expand their mission to other areas in the UK, plant even more trees, and support more hospices. Sounds like a great plan!
