Belfast: Translink is rolling out new self-serve ticket machines at bus stations and Park and Ride locations across Northern Ireland. This new tech is all about making it quicker and easier for folks to grab their bus tickets before hopping on.

They’ve already had success with these machines at train stations and Glider stops, plus some key spots like the two airports in Belfast. It’s part of their big plan to improve the customer experience with a digital ticketing system.

After launching at Cairnshill and Ballymartin Park and Ride, the machines are now also up and running at Millbrook, Sprucefield, Tamnamore, Maghera, and Castledawson. It’s a pretty exciting upgrade!

Passengers can easily top up their smartcards or buy local tickets for adults and kids. Plus, if you have a yLink or 24+ student railcard, you can snag some discounts.

And don’t worry, other popular ticket options like mLink mobile tickets and online purchases are still available. David Cowan, who heads up Commercial Operations at Translink, mentioned that these machines give passengers more choices and a faster way to buy tickets or top up their smartcards.

He noted that there’s been a lot of interest in the machines since they started rolling them out, and ticket sales have been steadily increasing. The new machines come with modern touch screens, adjustable heights, voice commands, and braille stickers to help everyone through the ticket-buying process.

They’re encouraging people to buy tickets in advance when they can, but you can still get tickets at the bus and rail ticket offices or on the trains if needed. For more info, check out their website.
