Irvine Welsh joins top authors at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate this summer
Harrogate: Irvine Welsh is a special guest at the biggest crime writing festival this summer. He’s the author of Trainspotting.
Welsh will join famous authors like Lee and Andrew Child, Val McDermid, and Kate Atkinson. They’ll all be at the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival.
This festival takes place at the Old Swan Hotel, where Agatha Christie once stayed. Welsh will discuss his latest book, Resolution, which is part of his crime trilogy and has become a hit TV series.
The festival runs from July 17 to 20 in Harrogate. It’s curated by Mick Herron, the creator of Slow Horses. He’s excited about the mix of authors this year.
Herron said the special guests are a great mix of bestsellers and new faces. He believes this will create a weekend full of excitement and discussions.
Other guests include Steph McGovern, whose first crime novel comes out in July, and Paula Hawkins. Attica Locke, a previous guest, will also be there.
Simon Theakston, from the festival’s title sponsor, expressed joy in supporting the event for 22 years. He noted last year’s festival was the biggest yet.
The festival is organized by Harrogate International Festivals, which aims to provide cultural experiences year-round.
Sharon Canavar, the Chief Executive, is proud of the lineup for this year. She looks forward to welcoming everyone, especially first-time attendees.
