A trailer carrying animals overturned on the M74, leading to two casualties and significant traffic delays.
Hamilton: So, there was this crazy incident on the M74 where a trailer full of animals flipped over. It happened on January 8, just before 3 PM. Two people ended up needing some medical help from paramedics.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the trailer tipped over on the northbound side, right before Junction 5. It caused a bit of a mess, blocking two lanes and creating a traffic jam that stretched for miles.
By around 5:17 PM, they managed to clear the lanes, but drivers were stuck in traffic for about 45 minutes. It was a real headache for folks trying to get home.
Emergency services were on the scene pretty quickly. They sent out four fire trucks and some special equipment to handle the situation. Thankfully, the area was made safe before they left.
Traffic Scotland kept everyone updated on social media, letting them know when the lanes were back open. But even after that, the traffic was still pretty heavy.
Police and ambulance services are looking into the details of what happened, so we might hear more soon.
