Abbie Humphries, who was abducted as a newborn, has sadly passed away at 30 after a long fight against a brain tumor in New Zealand
Nottingham: It’s a heartbreaking story. Abbie Humphries, who was taken from her parents just hours after being born, has died at the young age of 30. She was snatched from Queen’s Medical Centre and was missing for 16 days before being found.
Her abductor, Julie Kelley, was caught and sentenced to probation. Abbie was reunited with her parents, Karen and Roger, and they thought they could finally move on. But now, tragedy has struck again.
Abbie passed away from a brain tumor in New Zealand, where she had built a life with her husband, Karl Sundgren. He shared the sad news on Facebook, saying she fought bravely for over four years.
They planned a celebration of her life, inviting friends and family to join them. Abbie was known for her strength and her beautiful smile, which will be missed by many.
It all started back in July 1994 when Abbie was just three hours old. Her parents made desperate pleas for her return until she was finally found at Kelley’s home. Neighbors had noticed something was off and alerted the police.
Kelley had faked a pregnancy to convince her boyfriend that the baby was his. He was completely unaware of the abduction and thought Abbie was his daughter. It’s a wild story that left many people shocked.
After the ordeal, Abbie’s family moved to New Zealand, where she became a talented swimmer and even got married in 2017. But life threw more challenges their way when her mother passed away from cancer in 2020.
Abbie started experiencing headaches after her mom’s death, which turned out to be a brain tumor. Despite her diagnosis, she managed to live four years longer than expected, but sadly, she has now passed away.
