A trader is accused of unfair trading practices involving three homes and unclear receipts
Stockton: So, there’s this trader named Peter Considine who’s in a bit of hot water. He’s facing some serious charges for not finishing work at three different homes and for giving out receipts that just didn’t make any sense.
He’s 40 years old and has been hit with five charges under unfair trading laws, thanks to a case brought by Stockton Council. The issues span from July 2023 to March 2024, involving three unhappy customers.
Basically, he’s accused of not doing the work he agreed to do. The council claims he acted in a way that could really mess with how people make decisions about spending their money. That’s a big deal under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.
In one instance, he allegedly gave a customer some confusing cost estimates and receipts that were just all over the place. He’s also accused of telling someone they’d get a £1,400 refund, which turned out to be false.
Peter showed up in court on January 7, but they couldn’t get to his case because there wasn’t enough time. He hasn’t entered any pleas yet.
He’s currently out on bail and will have to return to court on February 4. It’s a situation that’s definitely got people talking around here.
