Leeds: A shocking incident unfolded when a man named Benjamin Barrett, 27, met a woman he had been chatting with on Snapchat. He claimed to love her and even talked about marriage. Sounds sweet, right? But things took a dark turn.

After traveling from London to Leeds, they bought some vodka and headed to her place. But instead of a fun night, Barrett got angry, accusing her of not trusting him. Then, out of nowhere, he grabbed her throat and pinned her against the wall.

She was so scared that she started “seeing stars” from the pressure. In a desperate move, she grabbed a kitchen knife and held it to her own throat to keep him away. Can you imagine the fear she felt?

Barrett didn’t stop there. He encouraged her to hurt herself and even tried to grab the knife. It was a nightmare. The woman later shared that her life was turned upside down. She couldn’t sleep or eat, and she felt terrified all the time.

During the struggle, she even got a cut on her thigh. When she tried to escape through a window, he pulled her back inside. Thankfully, neighbors heard the chaos and called for help.

Barrett, who had no prior convictions, was arrested. He denied the attack, claiming she had mental health issues. But his lawyer admitted it was a brief relationship and that prison was unavoidable.

While in custody, Barrett detoxed and acknowledged his temper issues. He eventually pleaded guilty to intentional strangulation. The judge wasn’t having it, giving him a 30-month sentence and a restraining order to keep him away from the victim.
