A Renfrewshire family celebrates a unique milestone with three generations sharing the same birthday, marking a special occasion this year
Erskine: A family in Renfrewshire is celebrating a remarkable milestone. Three generations share the same birthday, and this year, they’re making it extra special.
Andrew Ballantyne, who made headlines back in 2010, is turning 80. He got the best birthday gift when his granddaughter was born on the same day. But it’s not just her; he also shares this special day with his daughter, Dawn.
Can you believe the odds? There’s a one in 130,000 chance of this happening! Andrew was born on January 4, 1945, and his daughter Dawn followed in 1974, with granddaughter Amy arriving in 2010.
Amy’s mom, Gillian, joked about how crazy it gets around their birthdays. She said, “It’s always a hectic time for our family! This year, it’s dad’s big birthday, so he’ll be the star of the show!”
Last year was Dawn’s 50th, so she didn’t get much attention. But next year, Amy turns 16, and she’ll have her moment in the spotlight!
Andrew, a retired company director from Glasgow, has been married to Patricia for 52 years. He has two daughters, Gillian and Dawn, and three grandkids: Zoe, Amy, and Ryan.
Gillian shared that her dad had surgery for skin cancer a few years back but is doing well now. She recalled how Amy was born ten days late, making it a fantastic birthday surprise for Andrew!
They’re planning to celebrate at The Redhurst Hotel in Giffnock, a place that holds special memories for Andrew and Patricia from their dating days. Plus, they’ll have a family getaway in February to keep the celebrations going!
